Planning for NDIS Goals

If you are approved for NDIS funding, you must have some clear goals in mind to be the part of NDIS plan. These goals will help you to determine how your NDIS funding helps you achieve your goals. Every participant has his distinct goals based on the requirements. You may have many goals and face a problem while prioritizing, which should be achieved first. Having a plan manager on your side may help you do this task. Sometimes going through another participant’s plan may also help. We recommend that participants have 2-3 short-term goals and 2-3 medium- long-term goals.

Here are a few steps that you may follow while planning your goals.

  1. List out all the things you’d like to manage in your day-to-day life.
  2. Left all those things that might not be achievable due to your disability.
  3. Point out the top five favourite goals that you can achieve in the next 12 months and five long-term goals that you plan to achieve in the next 3 to 4 years. Highlight them using different colours.
  4. Consult your family and friends to ascertain which goals you should prioritise.

If you still need help prioritizing your goals. You can contact NDIS experts or the Local area coordinator for further information.

Why are goals important?

Your goals are an important part of developing your plan. This helps us to know which things matter for us and have priority in our lives. Goals can also help determine:

  • Your strengths and ways to use them.
  • Your motivation to do different things independently.
  • Ways to measure your progress.

It is entirely up to you how actively you pursue your goals. Sometimes you may want small changes, and other times you want radical changes. You can also get help from your family and friends to identify and prepare your goals. Experience plan managers at Hi Five can help you identify your goals. We will help you choose the right words if ask us. Hi Five can also help you provide trusted support coordination as a leading disability service in Australia.
